You might have read somewhere that appropriate dental hygiene contains regular flossing, using mouthwash solutions and tooth brushing.
Although, what many are not aware of is the fact that coconut oil provides an amazing effect for your glaring oral health!
The so-called ”oil pulling “ is a procedure of rinsing out the mouth with 1 tbsp. of coconut oil, which will eliminate harmful bacteria that spoiled your teeth and gums and so cause bad breath.
It was used 3,000 years ago, as part of the Ayurveda healing practices. Today, the popularity is growing once again. Furthermore, besides eliminating harmful bacteria, the coconut oil will even whiten your teeth gone yellow from using tobacco, tea, coffee along with other colored substances.
The homemade “toothpaste” based upon coconut oil features a vast number of benefits because of the antimicrobial benefits of coconut oil. It helps prevent teeth decay in a natural way, eliminating bad breath and gingivitis.
On the other hand, you will find a coconut oil that is sold for “cosmetic use”, which means that it is often lowered in quality by adding chemical products and for that reason will not be appropriate for consumption. Therefore, it would be recommended to only use virgin coconut oil.
The preparation of this excellent homemade toothpaste is very easy.
Instruction for preparation of the toothpaste:
Melt a few tablespoons of virgin coconut oil (about 30 grams) in a bowl;
Put 3 tbsp. of baking soda (about 45 grams) on it;
Mix with a fork till the mixture gets nearly the same as smooth commercial toothpaste.
The following paste will also help you eliminate bad breath, so you should also use it for brushing your tongue. Because of the baking soda, it will whiten and polish your teeth, aside from providing the other benefits.
The antimicrobial power of the coconut oil will eliminate germs existing on your tongue and gums that are responsible for the “killing breath.” Furthermore, the usage of this homemade paste will leave a very light and fresh scent of coconut in your mouth.
Remember, all of these dental health benefits are provided by a few commercial toothpastes, with the distinction that this natural paste does not include any kind of those powerful toxic chemicals.
