However, you should know that the curcumin, the active turmeric compound, improves the function of the liver and prevents gallstones from forming in the first place. This is the result of the cholecystokinetic effects of the turmeric which triggers gallbladder to contract and spurt out stored bile.
3. People with biliary tract obstruction
Curcumin is known to improve the work and the function of the gallbladder and to reduce the risk of gallstones and gallbladder cancer. Still, people who have issues with biliary tract obstructions should be pretty cautious if they decide to continue consuming turmeric.
4. People who have kidney stones
If you consume turmeric in great amounts, you increase your risk of formation of kidney stones. Turmeric is full of soluble oxalates which can bind to calcium and form insoluble calcium oxalate, a substance responsible for almost 75 percent of all kidney stones cases.
Hence, people who are susceptible to kidney stones should avoid turmeric consumption, or at least limit the consumption of dietary oxalate to less than 50 milligrams per day.
5. People with diabetes
Turmeric can reduce the levels of sugar in the blood and thus cause the diabetics experience considerable drop in their blood sugar levels. This means that diabetics are only allowed to consume turmeric in limited amounts.
6. People who should have a surgery
People who need to have a surgery should stop taking in turmeric two weeks before the surgery since turmeric has the ability to prevent blood clotting and can lead to extra bleeding during and after the surgery.
