Acidity is a condition in which the digestive acid in the stomach flows upwards into the esophagus, a long tube connecting the throat to the stomach. This causes inflammation and irritation in the stomach lining and upper digestive tract. The symptoms of acidity include nausea, vomiting, a sour taste in mouth, heaviness in the stomach, indigestion etc. Some of the best home remedies for acidity are as follows.

1. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple Cider Vinegar for acidity is one of the most effective remedy. Even though vinegar is acidic in nature, when we take apple cider vinegar it has an alkaline effect in our bodies. It helps to balance the acid production in the stomach, buffering the acidity level. Simply mix one or two teaspoons of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar in a cup of water. Drink it once or twice a day before meals.
2. Basil Leaves
Basil leaves, also commonly known as tulsi is popular for its medicinal properties. Chewing 5-6 basil leaves relieves acidity to a lot of extent. You can also grind dried basil leaves and consume them in the form of tea or simply mix it with water and drink.
3. Chewing Gum
It accelerate production of saliva, which in turn washes away acid accumulated in the stomach. Being alkaline, saliva also helps neutralize stomach acids. Simply have sugar-free, peppermint or cinnamon flavoured chewing gum after meals to ease acid reflux.
4. Jaggery
Jaggery is a proven home remedy for combating acidity. It becomes alkaline in the digestive system, thus reducing stomach acidity. Consume a small lump and allow it to get dissolved in your mouth. The sweet juice of jaggery will subside acidity completely.
5. Clove
Clove is well known for its stomach healing properties and it has proven its effectiveness on curing acidity. Simply chew two to three cloves thoroughly so that the juices are released into your system. The slowly released juice will immediately lower acid reflux.
6. Cumin Seeds
Cumin seed or jeera is excellent to cure acid reflux. It increase saliva production and help in curing gastric problems. Roast about a 1 tsp of cumin seeds. Crush the roasted seeds and mix it with water (1 glass). Consume this solution with every meal.
7. Ginger
Ginger juice can also neutralize stomach acids. It protect your stomach against ulcers by promoting mucus secretion and reducing the effect of the acid on your stomach. For relief from acidity, chew a slice of fresh ginger. You can also boil ginger in water and consume the solution.
