Travelling is one of the few privileges we get through our life. We can travel half way across the world. Go to a country where the culture and people are completely different from your own or even just to travel a few miles to see some relatives. Travelling can be stressful and taxing, especially to your beauty routine. You can’t really perform in your regular beauty routine when you are travelling or when you are abroad. Looking good and maintaining your skin health goes down a few notches on your priority list when travelling. Though, beauty experts would suggest that you can prevent all of these beauty
problems when traveling by being prepared and learning the right survival tips.
We’ve asked some of the most experienced travelers about the beauty tips when going ab
road and they had a lot of wonderful tips to share. From models, flight attendants and
travel show host; these are the survival tips they gave us to get through your vacation looking better than before you left.
Permanently Moving to Another Country
Travelers that need to prepare their beauty kit the most are the ones that plan to relocate for a long period of time or permanently. Traveling to another country is way different than travelling to another state. There are a lot of factors that will affect your beauty routine such as the weather, the availability of your product, the stress of moving and so on. You need to tackle this problem one at a time. How long will you be staying in this country? Will it be permanent or last longer than six months? If yes, what is the weather like there? A lot of people that travel to countries that have a far different climate than they use to experience breakouts. This is due to your skin’s ability to adjust to a different environment and most of the time this cannot be helped. Though, you can prepare yourself for what’s to come. What type of product do you regularly use? Is this product available in the country you are moving to? It’s difficult to suddenly switch products as soon as you get to your destination since this can cause further irritation to the skin. We want our skin to adjust to the new environment gradually, so continuing what you usually use at home for about a month or more before transitioning to a new local product is best. Though, if you are planning to just stay for about 2 to 6 months, pack as many of your own skin care items as possible or what the TSA would allow.
Go Travel Size
Bringing anything larger than your fist is going to be difficult, especially if you are planning to bring a lot of them. This tiny product can help you get through the first few days to month of you travelling abroad. This can save you a lot of money and space in your luggage. Travel size items that you must have when going abroad is your desired brand of toothpaste, conditioner, shampoo, dry shampoo, moisturizer, sunscreen, deodorant, mouthwash and foundation. These items are essential to your skin and hair care during your travel or vacation.
Always prepare a cosmetic bag that you carry around with you throughout your travel. You can’t really carry your suitcase around your whole trip right? This small cosmetic bag should have all the beauty items that you may need such as blotting paper, travel size deodorant, sunscreen, moisturizer, face powder, cologne/perfume, makeup essentials and carry some must have medications in this bag too in case of emergency.
Bring makeup that is multipurpose to save space and weight in your bag. BB creams or CC creams are ideal since it can help moisturize your skin while giving you enough coverage. Bring a small palette that has eyeshadows, lipstick or so on so that you will need. Unless you are planning to strut in the street twenty-four hours a day during your travel, bring your essentials only. You don’t need to pack 20 boxes of your false eyelashes or all the shades of lipsticks you have at home.
Coping in a new environment can be difficult for you and for your skin. Being ready for the new routine can help you reduce this stress and prevent skin irritation. This will also help you enjoy your vacation time instead of getting a wicked sunburn because you forgot to pack sunscreen. Remember to bring your medications and emergency items wherever you go during your stay abroad.
