A great amount of fatty acids that we consume in our lives are composed of long-chain fatty acids (LCFA), which are bad and very different from the medium chain fatty acids (MCFA) which are found in the coconut.

Medium chain fatty acids (MCFA) have no negative effect on cholesterol ratios and are essential and good for the heart because they protect it against heart diseases. Some studies have shown that population in Polynesia and Sri Lanka where coconuts are very used, have no problems with high cholesterol or heart diseases.

The unique properties of coconuts which are beneficial to the heart contain a large amount of lauric acid which is predominant acid found in mother’s milk.
