Nutrition is a study that explains the relationship between your diet and your health. One must be aware about how your diet affects your health and if you understand this basic, you can get an idea of eating a balanced and healthy diet to get proper nutrients required by your body. You will also understand the required exercises to be performed to attain physical health.
The food, you eat, may cause cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity and more, if the food is not a balanced one. If there are deficiencies, excesses and imbalances in your diet then these are the major reasons for acquiring many diseases. You can avoid some common diseases and illness by taking a balanced diet with proper nutrition, combined with regular workouts.
Human body requires the following main nutrients to maintain proper health and they are carbohydrates, fats, proteins, minerals, vitamins, fibre and water. These nutrients are needed by you on a daily basis, which are available in various food items, fruits and vegetables. Poor health and common diseases are caused by improper diet and lack of body exercise.
To maintain proper health, you should eat breakfast, lunch and dinner and skipping any meal will result in slowing down your metabolism and your body will tend to store excess food as fats. If you take your routine meals, then you body metabolism will increase and the fat will be broken down and will wait for the next feeding.
Drink Plenty of Water
Water is an essential nutrient and you should drink a minimum of eight glasses of water daily. For cleaning the toxins in your body, water is very much essential and water will help avoid dehydration.
Like water, protein is also the most prevalent material required by your body. Dietary protein will reduce bad LDL cholesterol and increase good HDL cholesterol and thus you are safe from being attacked by heart diseases. Protein is also required to maintain your muscles’ strength. Lean protein can be had from soy products, dairy products.
Human body requires more fibre each day and in general people are taking much less quantity of fibre daily and this is not correct. The whole grains such whole bread, and high fibre cereals are the great source of fibre and therefore, you have to include them in your daily diet. Due to the in take of a good quantity of fibre, you can avoid heart diseases and can have a control over blood sugar and blood cholesterol.
Fruits and Vegetables
Without fruits and vegetables, your healthy diet is incomplete. Almost all the fruits and vegetables contain a lot of minerals, vitamins and fibre and in addition, these items are less in calories. Fruits and vegetables can be had along with meals or can be consumed as snacks in between two meals. However, make it a point to include fruits and vegetables as a part of your meals.
In general, as far as vegetables are concerned, green vegetable like spinach, tomatoes and collard greens are very good foods as they contain large amount of vitamins and minerals and it would be better to include these items in your meals, thrice a week. If you are a strict vegetarian, you have to take a vitamin supplement that contains vitamin B12.
Along with the diet also make it a point to do some exercises everyday for a period of minimum 30 to 45 minutes.
