Replace refined sugar with this bell-fat BUSTING date paste (Includes ginger, cinnamon and MAGNESIUM)

We all know that sugar is bad for us, but sometimes it’s just so hard to resist. I personally have this problem on a regular basis. Instead of cutting sugar out of your diet cold turkey, have you considered using natural homemade sweetener? I can teach you how.

But first, what is this sweetener going to be made with if not delicious refined and artificial sugars? Dates, of course! Dates are not only a sweet treat. They’re also amazing for your health.

Eating dates every day has been shown to improve digestive health. They’re full of fiber and help relieve constipation. The potassium in dates helps treat upset stomachs and diarrhea as well.  Dates also strengthen good bacteria in the stomach. All around great digestive aid, won’t you agree?

Dates are also great for treating and preventing anemia. Dates are full of iron, and your newly boosted iron levels will keep you energized and reduce your risk of anemia!

The natural sugars also help with giving you a natural energy boost! This makes dates a great part of an afternoon snack to get you through the 3 o’clock crash. The best part is, the energy doesn’t go away the same way as with sugary foods. There is no sugar crash.

Magnesium, manganese, and selenium are all found in dates. Selenium is a known cancer preventative, and these minerals are also great at keeping our blood healthy and our bones strong.

Not only do your bones and blood benefit, but also your heart. Dates reduce your risk of stroke by lowering bad cholesterol.

For this recipe I recommend using medjool dates. They’re sweet, big, tender and delicious. The pit helps the dates last longer, as long as you keep them refrigerated. I recommend making your date paste in bulk, freezing it for up to 3 months. If you lay it flat in your freezer in a plastic freezer bag, you can easily break off a piece when needed. It’s convenient and removes the risk of using processed sugars for convenience.

Raw Date Paste


  • 40 dates
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ ground cloves
  • ¼ ground ginger
  • Water


  1. Soak dates in warm water until they’re soft and tender (30 min – 2 hrs)
  2. Remove dates from water and remove pits (unless you soaked pitted dates)
  3. Place pitted, soaked dates into food processor with 2 tbsp of water and puree
  4. Scrape down sides in intervals and keep blending until you have a thick creamy paste.
  5. Add spices and mix until completely blended
  6. Place date paste in air tight container and store in fridge for 2-3 weeks, or freeze.
