As a result of poor diet choices, many people have skin problems. This theory is explained by the skin care specialist and naturopathic doctor Nigma Talib, writer of the book “Reverse The Signs Of Ageing”. She has been featured in Vanity Fair Magazine and treats makeup guru Charlotte Tilbury and celebrities like Sienna Miller.
Talib explains, proves and convicts that what we drink and eat has a direct impact on your face. She calls these collections of symptoms “gluten face”, “sugar face”, “wine face” and “dairy face”.
Just by checking the way their face is ageing, I can immediately tell the sort of foods they tend to over eat when patients walk into my clinic. I usually read random faces in the street. I always advise the people to hold back on pasta and cut milk out of their diet as it’s so clear from their complexion that their diets is actually doing them harm.
It is enough to cause puffiness and bloating for some people who consume cereal for breakfast, bread for lunch and pasta for dinner. Fine lines around the eyes and mouth can be triggered by couple of glasses of wine.
If you are intolerant, a piece of cheese or a creamy sauce can might trigger dark circles under your eyes.
In the Traditional Chinese Medicine, face mapping has been used before thousand years ago. Because it is written all over their face, Dr.Talib can tell when someone comes into their office with a eating or drinking problem.
How the face will age is determined what one eats or eats too much.
A cascade of hormonal and chemical changes that accelerate the aging process externally and internally can be caused by the foods that you can not comfortably digest.
Particularly damaging food groups are the following: alcohol, sugar, dairy and gluten. All these foods contribute to cluster of ageing signs such as sagging, wrinkles, premature fine lines, changes in skin tone, puffiness or spots.
The root cause and which organs are overburdened
Whether the eyes, cheeks, chin or forehead is the area of your face that is most affected, will depend on the part of your body being put under most stress by the foods you consume.
Dr.Talob explains what is going on with her clients:
Symptoms: pasty/grey white hue to the skin, thinning of the skin, painful pustular spots, gaunt look to the face, sagging under the eyes, wrinkles and eyes on the forehead.
When our energy is low at 2 pm, it is very easy to get into the habit of reaching for sugary foods. It creates a vicious cycle that make you craving more and more when high blood sugar levels inevitably plummet.
Sugar destroys skin elasticity. The forehead is related with the process of digestion according to face mapping which is why “sugar face” may manifest as wrinkles or blotches on the forehead.
How to Fix It: You only have to stop consuming processed sugar. It is too difficult to stop consuming sugar completely. You will notice fast improvements in the complexion even in you just cut your intake in half and then gradually wean yourself off sugar. Use natural options like dates, honey and fruits in place of refined sugar.
Symptoms: Deep nasolabial folds, flushed cheeks and nose, dehydrated skin, enlarged pores, droopy eyelids, redness between the eyes and pronounced lines.
Besides it is called wine face, this phenomenon can occur in every person who consumes a lot of alcohol. Alcohol destroys skin elasticity, affects the liver and dehydrates the skin.
How to Fix It: Do not consume alcohol for 20 days and then follow the 89/20 rule. Indulge 20% of the time and abstain 80% of the time.
Symptoms: Sports around the chin, dark pigmentation patches and puffy red cheeks.
Dark pigmentation or spots around reproductive organs is the main sigh for gluten intolerance. When the people who suffer from Rosacea remove gluten from their diets, they have found significant improved.
How to Fix It: Cut if from your diet if gluten is the problem. “Cutting back” will not do the trick when it comes to gluten, it actually has to be totally removed. Get enough fiber and drink plenty of water. This will redefine your cheekbones, and help balance out the skin.
Symptoms: Bumps on the chin, small white spots, dark and bags circles under eyes and swollen eye lids.
Many people lose the ability to digest dairy foods properly overtime. With the inflammation inducing chemicals, the body tries to fight off the diary.
The same process of inflammation that causes splinter, heat around sprained ankle, swelling and redness, can trigger dark circles, under-eye bags and puffy eye lids on your face.
Artificial hormones are consisted in most of the milk on the market. By disrupting your hormone system, these also cause problems that actually show up in the chin area that represents the reproductive organs.
How to Fix It: People should remove dairy from their diet for 20 days if they feel that have an intolerance to it and observe any changes in their energy levels, digestion and complexion.
